What significant information did I learn about these interviews?
I learned that no matter how hard that some of these men and women worked or how dangerous their jobs were they never got enough money. Also, some people were excluded from jobs because of their race. For example, one interview I listened to was Mr. Garavelli Stonecutter. Some of the other stonecutters got sick and died form the silica in the stone. Although Mr. Garavelli didn't work with things that contained silica, he didn't get paid a alot of money. Another interview was
Jim Cole . He was another hard worker, but he worked in the packing house. He wanted to join the AFL union, or the Amalgamated Butchers and Meat Cutters union, but because he was black, they wouldn't except him.
